Basically it is a drop-in replacement, but we managed to write a query 
in a way that triggered an optimization bug in MariaDB, resulting in 
wrong query results. 

This bug is fixed in 2.92 (aka 3.0 beta2) by adding a workaround - if 
you are interested in details, have a look at bug#313 and bug#325 in the 
sourceforge tracker.
