I'm working at the time on a patch which make it possible to "friendly from address to vacation messages" to fit into through vacation.php and tpl. It gets the name and email from the table emailbox if the record (realname or friendyname) is blank. This variable is editable and is stored in the vacation table so the user or admin can put in everthink hi or she likes.
