At a customer they report nonworking vacation messages.
It seems related to the fact that the problematic addresses are shown as "Forward Only".
Maybe they created the address with wrong settings back then, I don't know.
How to correct/edit these addresses without deleting their mails?
As backend we have dovecot 2.2.5 currently (yes, old box ...).
I assume I could move the mailbox-dir aside etc, but I would love to get some encouraging howto-reply. Maybe it even is correctable in the database?
Which version of PostfixAdmin do you use?
Hint: 2.3.7 and 3.0 beta1 (= 2.91) contain a change in vacation.pl that works around a bug in Mail::Sender 0.8.22 - in older versions, this bug will break sending the vacation responses.
Vacation for forward-only mailboxes should work without problems. If you want to check on the database level:
- check the alias table - it should have something like email@example.com -> foo@somewhere,example.com,firstname.lastname@example.org
- check the vacation table - it should have a row for email@example.com
Just to be sure, also check your mail log - is a copy of the mail delivered to the vacation.pl script?
It is "Postfix Admin 2.4 develop" when I read the login page.
I upgraded Mail::Sender to 0.8.23 now with CPAN and will test again (and do your suggested checks. What to do if they fail?).
Test worked! The Mail::Sender upgrade did the trick! cool!
