    I've installed postfix in a bit of a hurry to get round a server-down nightmare...

    Basically I just want to rewrite emails so that the recipient is rewritten, and the mail delivered by resolving the correct host as normal, e.g.:
    mike@localdomain.com -> mikey5@externaldomain.com

    I've set up generic maps as per the postfix instructions, but I'm getting a 'user unknown in local recipient table'

    Do I need to do something to tell it to ignore local users, just do the rewrite and 'pass it on'?

    This is a Postfix query - you'd be better off asking in a Postfix specific forum (try over at postfix.org). This is the support forum for the Postfix Admin package which manages virtual domains/mailboxes on top of Postfix.
