Hi!

I''m running PostBooks on Windows machine as well as the PostgreSQL backend. I plan to move the SQl to my CentOS Linux machine that is running 24/7 so the server side is available all the time. Here is my installation details but somewhere I am stuck!

Mark > to denote console.

1. Install PostgresSQL. Use centosplus repo to get ver8.1 of the postgreSQL. Deafault install is only version 7.4.
>[root@icb1 ~]# yum install postgres* --enablerepo=centosplus

2. Run posmaster for the 1st time.
>[root@myhost ~]# /etc/init.d/postgresql start

3. Edit PostgreSQL Config for PostBook use.
>[root@icb1 ~]# nano /var/lib/pgsql/data/pg_hba.conf
--
change:
host    all         all         127.0.0.1/32          ident sameuser
to:
host    all         all         127.0.0.1/32          password
--
>[root@myhost ~]# nano /var/lib/pgsql/data/postgresql.conf
--
change:
listen_addresses = ''localhost''
to:
listen_addresses = ''*''
--
Don''t forget to start postgreSQL
>[root@myhost ~]# /etc/init.d/postgresql stop
>[root@myhost ~]# /etc/init.d/postgresql start

4. Create Accounts and Restore Database
>[root@myhost ~]# sudo su postgres
>bash-3.00$ psql
Welcome to psql 8.1.9, the PostgreSQL interactive terminal.
Type:  \\copyright for distribution terms
       \\h for help with SQL commands
       \\? for help with psql commands
       \\g or terminate with semicolon to execute query
       \\q to quit

>postgres=# create group openmfg;
CREATE ROLE
>postgres=# create database accounting with owner mfgadmin;
CREATE DATABASE
>postgres=# \\q

Ensure back-up and script are copied to /var/lib/pgsql/data.

>bash-3.00$ pg_restore -U mfgadmin -d postbooks_quickstart-2.2.0.backup -v
I''m stuck here!!

4. Check service port if it is open for PostgreSQL.
From any windows computer in my LAN
>nmap myhost -p 5432
Starting Nmap 4.20 ( http://insecure.org ) at 2007
me
Interesting ports on 192.168.1.*:
PORT     STATE SERVICE
5432/tcp open  postgres
MAC Address: 00:11:2F:67:D7:B4 (Asustek Computer)

Appreciate somebody''s help.
