I would definitely recommend that you NOT have root own those files. For
further information on adding groups/users type "man groupadd" and "man
useradd" respectively. I usually grant ownership to the same user that my
webserver runs as ('apache' or 'www').

Subject: [Post-nuke-users] unix level file permissions
Hello everyone. I have set up a PN site for an organization that is taking
over normal operations and content management. I installed PN as root and
all of the files are owned by root.root, and from time to time I know that
they will want to upload graphics for new topics and sections. Does anyone
have have any advice on whether or not I can great a new unix group
(postnuke) that would have group write permission in the PN tree? Are there
any file permission issues that I should address in general?
Thanks in advance,
