Can anyone explain the following?

I have been doing some work on oSCommerce cvs 2.2 of late with the view to building a number of ecommerce sites. I have noticed in the forums comments regarding post-nuke integration. I am familiar with CMS systems but am having a problem understanding how OSC can be integerated into PN? The style, layout and behaviour of OSC is embedded within the php code so what can PN provide in addition?
This may be a stupid question but I am sure that I am not the only person wanting to ask.
