I am new to Posh, but I recently got it set up and working. Love it. I am looking for additional widgets though, mainly a stock portfolio widget like the Google Stock Portfolio widget that was in iGoogle. Since iGoogle shut down, a lot of widgets have disappeared and I have not had much luck. I've seen some articles mentioning additional widgets for Posh / Portaneo from www.portaneo.com however that website is not active. Are there additional widgets for Posh available and if so where are they posted? Am I able to contribute widgets? I am thinking of looking at creating a stock portfolio widget as I have been unable to find one that works well with Posh. Thank you.

Thank you very much. I have seen those sites and have been looking through to find gadgets that still work. I have been trying many for stocks and so far have not found one that works, but will continue to look.

Do you know of any that share the source code? One of the features I love about Posh is the ability to create a new gadget and put in the source code, that way it is local and available for all users. For example, it appears that igoogleportal.com actually uses Posh, and a lot of gadgets have been moved over to igoogleportal.com since the iGoogle shutdown. But I do not see them sharing the code for their gadgets. Since Posh is under the GPL, I am assuming they should be releasing the code for the gadgets?? I may try to contact them but getting the source code for those gadgets would be very useful. Thank you again!

Thank you for all of your help. I did finally find a stock gadget that works well:

    http://www.google.com/ig/directory?synd=open&url=http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/109695235857679740419/LiveStockQuotes.xml

This one worked by using the source code and creating a custom widget in Posh. It has a variable to enter in symbols so the only 3rd party service it needs is Yahoo's YQL service. I did not have to modify the code on this one.

But it is good to know igoogleportal.com is sharing the code, I did not know it was available after signing in. That opens up a lot of extra gadgets since iGoogle shut down.

FYI, the Yahoo Finance gadget does not seem to work with Posh, it would work for a while then all prices turned to 0.00.

Thank you for your help. Posh is a great system and very flexible.

  • Hi,
Thanks for the information, igoogleportal.com is indeed using posh.
I am currently working on a Twitter widget (that can be modified easily to get a Facebook widget), that will be released by the end of the year.
Unfortunatly not enough time to create many more widget in a short term, but do not hesitate to share your widgets codes on the new forum : https://sourceforge.net/p/posh/discussion/widgets/
