having an option that allowed x number of lines of the
message to be displayed in history, would expedite the
process of determining whether or not a message was
correctly classified.
especially when i have 2 buckets with similar content,
often the first line of the email will allow me to
accurately determine to which bucket the message belongs.
this would save me the time of having to click onto the
message to inspect the contents.
if you have any questions, please ask for clarification.
thanks for considering this request.

What can be found in the first line?

here are the first lines of five different mailing lists:
Return-Path: <owner-amalgam@LISTSERV.DFN.DE>
Return-Path: <owner-cypherpunks@lne.com>
Return-Path: <owner-edupage@LISTSERV.EDUCAUSE.EDU>
Return-Path: <owner-imap@chumbly.math.missouri.edu>
Return-Path: <tidbits-talk@tidbits.com>
if POPFile classifies a cypherpunks message as an edupage
message, when i check the first line of said classified
message, i'll see "Return-Path: <owner-cypherpunks@lne.com>"
and know the message is really a cypherpunks message.
i would have figured POPFile would have picked up on this
detail, but it doesn't.
is that clearer now?
magnets aren't an option with this header line, but even if
i could use them, i wouldn't - i like to observe POPFile's
accuracy.

How about an additional optional column in the History page?
The way I envision this column working would be that the user
could enter the label of a header (Date:, Message-ID:,
Return-Path:, X-Spam-Level:, etc.) and POPFile would display
the content of that particular header in that column.

Jim, that would be superb.
Even better than seeing the top 1 or 2 lines, because what I
look at is the Return-Path line, which may not always be the
first or second line.
Thanks,
david
