You can download and test 0.22.5 here:

    http://popfile.sf.net/popfile-0.22.5RC5.zip
    http://popfile.sf.net/popfile-0.22.5RC5-windows.zip

This incorporates Brian's latest, small bug fix for the uninstaller, but I have not upgraded Time::Local because I would rather wait to get it from ActiveState then start mixing and matching repositories.

Suggestions for what needs to go in the release notes?

    John.

I've been trying to compile a list of what has changed since 0.22.4. Here is what I have come up with so far:

      (1) POPFile now defaults to using SQLite2 (the Windows installer will convert existing installations to use SQLite2)

      (2) Various improvements to the handling of Japanese messages

      (3) Single Message View now has a link to "download" the message from the message history folder

      (4) Log file now indicates when an SSL connection is being made to the mail server

      (5) IMAP improvements (training mode plus a small bug fix?)

      (6) Installer improvements:

(6a) Email reconfiguration no longer assumes Outlook Express is present

(6b) Add/Remove Programs entries for POPFile now show a more realistic estimate of the program and data size

(6c) Better support for proxies when downloading the SSL Support files

(6d) The SSL patches are no longer "hard-coded", they are downloaded at install time. This will make it easier to respond to future changes to the SSL Support files.

(6e) The Message Capture Utility now has a Start Menu shortcut to make it easier to use the utility

(6f) The minimal Perl has been updated to the latest version

(6g) The installer package has been updated to make it work better on Windows Vista (but further improvements are still required)

      Brian

        Naoki,

Could you fill in the details of:

        (2) Various improvements to the handling of Japanese messages

        John.

          John,

Here's the detail of my changes on 0.22.5:

          (2) Various improvements to the handling of Japanese messages and improvements for the 'Nihongo' environment:

(2a) Performance enhancement for converting character encoding by skipping conversion which was not needed

(2b) Fix a bug that the wrong character set was sometimes used when the charset was not defined in the mail header

(2c) Fix a bug that several HTML entities caused misclassification on the 'Nihongo' environment

(2d) Avoid the warning 'uninitialized value' on the 'Nihongo' environment

(2e) Fix a bug that the word's links in the bucket's detail page were not url-encoded. Now Japanese can use these links

Since from 2b to 2e are very small bug fixes, I prefer the simple one:

(2b) Several small bug fixes for the 'Nihongo' environment

I'll write the detailed information for Japanese users on Wiki.

          Naoki
