Category: None Group: None >Status: Open >Resolution: Later Priority: 2 Private: No Submitted By: Midori Harris (gomidori) Assigned to: Kim Rutherford (kim_rutherford) Summary: make email address changes propagate Initial Comment: A possible feature to think about; not urgent request: have email address changes made in the 'edit person details' page take effect throughout the tool long-winded explanation: Back in the mists of time, someone created a user entry for Ryoko, but left the '.uk' off her email address. I fixed it by editing the 'Details for' page*, but the change hasn't propagated elsewhere. Specifically, when I click on the 'enter this curation session' link for any session not yet 'in progress', I see the name and email address boxes as expected, but the email box shows the old, uncorrected version (example at **). This may be inconsequential, but might be a little annoying for Ryoko, because she may think she has to fix it again every time. For future community use, it'll probably be very useful to have email changes affect sessions assigned to the person -- people sometimes move, typos creep in, etc. *http://curation.pombase.org/pombe/view/object/person/23?model=track **http://curation.pombase.org/pombe/curs/a0099c7e3471a313 cheers, m ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-12-05 02:21 Message: keeping open ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-12-03 03:28 Message: We should build this into the new item features ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=2525791&aid=3545823&group_id=65526 |

Remove the "Please enter your e-mail details from this page "we will already have the first author details recorded, and they will have an option to change the "curator" from this page and all subsequent ones 2. Change the continue button to "start curating" 3. Add a link "Documentation Introduction" 4. Add an option to "change curator page".... For me this only happens for the allele name field, but not for the allele description field. There is a little spinning icon which appears at the end of the field, presumably to indicate that the last character you entered is still "processing" in some way. If you type anything whilst this icon is spinning, it does not get entered, but this means that you need to type at snails pace. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Midori Harris (gomidori) Date: 2012-11-28 08:08 Message: I don't think I've seen this ... which may add evidence for the browser-specificity hypothesis, since I usually use canto in Safari. m ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-11-28 04:26 Message: Antonia suggested this could be browser specific, (we are both using FF) v ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Antonia Lock (antonialock) Date: 2012-11-28 03:50 Message: this happens to me pretty much all the time ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kim Rutherford (kim_rutherford) Date: 2012-11-28 02:00 Message: I've tried to reproduce this and failed. One thing that might help is to use the "web console" to watch for warnings and errors that the browser reports. Normally if the browser spots a problem it quietly ignores it and doesn't tell the user but these warnings and errors can be helpful for debugging. They show up in the "web console" in firefox. You can view it using the menu: Tools -> Web Developer -> Web Console. You don't need to leave it open all the time, but it could be useful to open it before doing curation and clear the console - there's a clear button in the top right. You can leave it closed after that. If you notice a problem with the allele adding, could you open the web console and let me know what error and warnings have been logged? If you ever feel like using Chrome or Safari, they have a console too. We already have a number of examples of people curating papers from ex-labs, people curating papers they were not authors on. This will be come confusing and we think it is better that we collect the detailed lab info (lab/interests/lab members etc) from a separate interface attached to pomBase somehow. What we need in the curation tool is i) the originating lab for the paper (probably this will replace the current publication curator slot) ii) who actually curated the paper. (we do not think we necessarily need to connect these 2 pieces of information, this will be much more flexible) Add lab 1. People no longer need to be connected to labs (drop people interface) 2. Labs will be known be lab head surname only (use first name to disambiguate if common surname) 3. In this interface should also be able to assign a PMID to a lab, 4. If PMID supplied is not in database supply message "paper needs adding (or similar) Add Person 1. For a new person we don't need to assign to a lab (drop this) In the publication details 1. Everyone? Kim FYI We envisaged pushing the user data collection over to be an interface on PomBase (i.e Mark). The community maintain their own data, it will load directly into Chado, with minimal curator intervention. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kim Rutherford (kim_rutherford) Date: 2012-07-23 20:51 Message: If the lab is always "Joe Bloggs' Lab" we can probably ditch the labs altogether. What I mean is, the publication could just have a field like "Originating lab head", which is just a person. That way we just maintain a list of people. That simplifies the database and means the triage page is easy to fix. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-07-23 09:40 Message: I'm not totally sure that this will still be relevant after the above changes but this is transferred from https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3480224&group_id=65526&atid=2525791 Currently when assigning a publication to a curator there is a static list. We need an easy way of adding a new user to the list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-07-23 07:21 Message: Currently to find out who actually did the curation you need to go into the session. It would be nice if that appeared in the session tables. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-07-23 07:19 Message: We think to speed up we will also want to "create a session" for all curatable papers when they are assigned as "curatable". we could then assign a curator whist triaging. We can come back to this later though....not urgent ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Valerie Wood (val_wood) Date: 2012-07-23 07:12 Message: Note there are some mistakes in the existing lab list.... (probably best to clear and start again, as there are not many labs in the list yet). I also have some mistakes in this list (when I was adding it seemed as though I was correcting these but some of the old entries have been retained http://curation.pombase.org/pombe/view/list/lab?model=track Forsburg Paul Nurse and duplicate rows for Bahler (1) suplicate rows for Nurse (4) Can you fix these, or tell me how to. -------- Once this is done the curators will go through and assign labs to the completed sessions (Midori volunteered) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=2525791&aid=3547630&group_id=65526 |

I think your solution sounds fine as a start, becasue it shouldn't happen very often, as we won't have many new sessions in progress..... 2: Delete the duplicate session I created here: http://curation.pombase.org/pombe/view/object/pub/9070?model=track (maybe check that no other publications have 2 sessions open simultaneously and prevent this? 3. Once this is done, allow users to access these pages without being logged in (they will provide their details subsequently bu at present they cant get beyond the log in page to see instructions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=2525791&aid=3528750&group_id=65526 |
