Val's initial text is on the wiki: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/pombase/wiki/CantoFrontPageText

Please modify that and then update this tracker item when it's ready to implement.

So, it seems that the only outstanding  part of this ticket, is

1: to stop multiple sessions being spawned?

I think  your solution sounds fine as a start, becasue it shouldn't happen
very often, as we won't have many new sessions in progress.....

2:  Delete the duplicate session I created here:
http://curation.pombase.org/pombe/view/object/pub/9070?model=track
(maybe check that no other publications have 2 sessions open simultaneously
and  prevent this?

3. Once this is done, allow users to access these pages without being
logged in (they will provide their details subsequently bu at present they
cant get beyond the log in page to see instructions.
