Hi Kim,

What would happen if a primary name changes to the existing extensions which use the old primary name. Do they get fixed automatically? I am thinking this would be the same situation if a systemtic ID was used in an extension for an unnamed gene which was subsequently named. I don't know if we have any examples of this either. I guess we need to

Report any use of extensions which do not match the primary name.

We might have a test case soon.

You can use the systematic ID, the gene name or a synonym in an extension. The loader only stores the systematic ID in Chado.

So, it still isn't clear to me.

So all is OK, unless a primary name becomes a synonym, and the synonym is not unique?

Ah, sorry, I was think of ontology terms where it's OK to use a synonym. For genes you can only use the systematic ID or the name. If the gene name changes then you'll start to see warnings in the log files if you use the old name in an extension.

This is nearly the case at the moment. It will report when it's not a known gene name or systematic ID.
