    as noted on the Jira ticket, the allele names were fixed in Canto since the v47 chado load -- it's not the load mangling them

    ... but a warning in the logs about non-UTF8 characters would be useful

    It should be fine (and it's useful) to have funky characters like "Δ" in allele names. The problem was that the exporter from Canto was screwing things up. It's fixed now so anything goes. Probably. I haven't discussed this with Mark yet. 😀
