I believe it's a well-known MSYS issue, a brief scan of the web shows quite a lot of problems. Indeed, a full path *does* work; a UNC path is fine. The problem is a path that needs MSYS munging to be valid. For that matter, this works fine too: m: /Development/Source/libpng-1.5.6rc03/configure MAKE=mingw32-make (Because the mingw make, as opposed to the MSYS one, doesn't have problems with the ":" in the path.)
