I have not tested the features of this updated books
mod, but have gone to a few users sites to get a jist of
how they are using it. I have used an older version
with my last site, and want to start developing a new
site.
But I would really like to know if the books mod has
these features, or would possible incorporate them
before I get started:
1. Not just book generic, ability to utilise other
amazon products, like music, software, toys etc.
2. Utilise Amazons new Shop Cart, Wishlist features.
3. Show product prices.
4. Import Amazons New Releases, Best Deals, Whats
New etc - by category ie Books, Music, Software - or
whichever Amazon product categories you want to
display. How many to display etc. Could have this as
a start page to the mod, with categories below?
5. Our recomendations - we could either have this
randomly select products/categories - or select a
product to display depending on whats popular in our
location.
6. Just to make it a little more informational, and not
to much like a links database. Display similar
information per category/subcategory (not sure on
the depths of categories), but when you go to each
category, it could display the specials, or display the
new realeases. Ability to chose which information to
display, and then other products, sub categories are
shown below.(also not too sure on the extent of how
much information you can gather using the XML)
7. Not limited to just Amazon, I also use Commission
Junction and Linkshare - and like to display their
products as well.
I hope this is not too confusing. But all these
suggested features, would be ideal for me....don't
know about everyone else, but its also more
informational and visually stimulating. Also The last
guys imgae link suggestion was good as well.
Sorry to burden you if I have.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, we may well add additional Amazon functions, but we
don't want to rely on Amazon.com for our functionality.
Unfortunately, at this time, only amazon has web services
that allow these sorts of things. I should also point out that
the books module is not a storefront package. It's more of a
library and reviews package. Thus, we don't list prices. As for
other media besides books, there is a Sourceforge project
starting for that at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pnmedia
