I would like to see the basic book index page have the
option to be displayed by author (or an alpha select list
much like reviews or users, etc.) in addition to the by
category display we have now.
I would like to see at least one or two additional optional
fields added (which in my case would be used to
identify book series - like Perry Mason) and which could
be one of the alpha sort options just like authors. So
your view options for the basic index type page would
be by category, or author, or title, or each of the
optional fields. The optional field would be defined like
categories so that, in my case, the series of books
could be described.
Also, author, and option fields in the individual book
display would be links to all books or a summary list of
links, for example all books by a particular author. This
may mean developing and mantaining an author list in
the database.
Here's something more difficult. Books come out in
many formats, hardcover, paperback, audio, electronic,
downloadable audible, and more. How might we enter all
these isbn codes and then how to display options for
selecting to buy. I certainly don't have the answer. Just
posing the question.

In books .750 each author name can be a link to display all
the books of this author. I also think that additionnally sorting
by author should be an option in the list display (as title,
date, evaluation or popularity)

I second this - I would like the ability to sort by author as well
as by member name. On my site,
www.recycledbookclub.com, I have users add books to the
books inventory for trade - so I would like the ability to sort
books by the user who submitted as well.

One of the problem of the "sort by author" feature is the
case of books with several authors !!
