Der p.mapper -List,

I=B4m writing an article for the German newspaper "GIS BUSINESS" about Op=
en
Source web-clients and I want to mention also "p.mapper".=20
For that I try to make some nice screenshots of an own apllication.

But there is still one problem with the layers.
I have three in my application, for example (in my mapfile):

It is shown in my application but how can I turn it on and off?
In the TOC there is always written:
"Administrative Data
Nature-spatial Data
Raster Data" (where can I change this?)
and no possibility to change the Layer Status.

I didn`t find anything about that in the mailing archive, can anybody hel=
p please?

the POI is just a simple solution to add a few points to the current map. It's stored in the session, but can also be added via the URL. If you click on the link 'Link to current map' you get the URL with the points. It was mainly intended to give somebody a URL that includes a point on the map, saying 'Here am I', nothing more...

Look in the mail archive, there was once some discussion about editing points (add to DB). I posted some script samples for that.

the path should be in the php.ini. it's written there when PEAR is installed, I guess.

this depends mainly how much you customized. There are some new settings in config.ini since version 2.1 that needed to be adjusted.

Hello everybody, i was trying to understand if the pmapper is suitable for
my work. One of the most important feature i have to implements is the
possibility to add/modify/remove points on the map. The POI feature could be
a good starting point, considering that i'll need to add a set of attribute
to each point. The things that i haven't understand is where on the code the
POI are read from the DB (it is a postgresql, right?) and put in the
session.

After that, i started from the versione 2.0.0 in the ms4w packed edition and
i tried to use, as it is written, the already installed PEAR framework But
it doesn't work. If i follow the PEAR definitions:

they doesn't work because they don't find the path. But i supposed that the
customlayer.php was using data taken from the DB via PEAR framework. So,
what it's not working?

Finally, i was trying to update the file from version 2.0.0 to the new
3.0.0-beta1 but the different configurations of the directory are not
recognized from the old version and i've not a _project definition, so i
have big problem in converting my project.

Hi everybody,

I put the new version 3 of p.mapper on the Sourceforge site (for now as 
beta1). One of the main changes that also causes the new major release 
numbering is the move to the GNU General Public License. This makes it 
possible for the future to use also code from other projects with 
similar scope that are also under the GPL, like Cartoweb or Appformaps.

Additionally, there are a number of changes and (I hope) improvements.

First of all
* a new and more flexible layout using zones:
   the map.phtml is now separated in default zones that shall allow
   a flexible design of the GUI. Elements' parameters are
   defined in js_config.php. Elements that shall not be displayed
   should just get their width/height set to 0.
   I will update the docs ASAP. For now, just play with the settings
   and see what happens ;-)

* the measure function with new features and enhancements:
   Grazie mille to Federico Nieri for his great work on the whole
   measurement part that should also become part of basic editing
   functions in the future. It mainly includes the possibility
   to zoom/pan during measurement/editing as well as cancellation
   of last points and overlap checks.

And some minor modifications:
* new default layout for zoom slider
* scale bar with drop down list of pre-defined scales
   (set in js_config.php)
* moved most of style settings from map.phtml to layout.css
* new themes for tool buttons (set in php_config.php)

I tested the version 3 as much as I could but I would be glad if others 
could also test it and see if everything's working fine, and report 
bugs, either via mail or the SF bug tracker.

the whole thing is a bit more complicated than I was hoping and it makes=20
a complete re-design of the general layout even more necessary.

For a fast workaround you could try the following:

use the default 'init()' function. Then in 'resiveDiv()' replace the=20
parts that set the variables winx & winy with the following

winix =3D rawW('pm_master');
winiy =3D rawH('pm_master');

Then in map.phtml put the whole elements into a master DIV

<div id=3D"pm_master" style=3D"position:absolute; top:0px; left:0px;=20
height:750px; width:900px">
....
</div>

and adapt the width/height settings to the values you want.


All of this is not very flexible at the moment and one modification can=20
cause some strange side-effects on other elements and needs an=20
adaptation there, in particular for the offsets in zoombox.js.

this max extent that you cannot go over is currently hardcoded in the=20
zoompoint function. You can globally disable it modifying in map.php for=20
function 'pmap_zoompoint()' the line

$this->map->zoompoint($this->zoom_factor, $xy_pix, $this->mapwidth,=20
$this->mapheight, $this->geoext0, $this->maxextent);

to

$this->map->zoompoint($this->zoom_factor, $xy_pix, $this->mapwidth,=20
$this->mapheight, $this->geoext0);


There might be other parts where this limitation is as well.

Or you can set the max extent in the map file higher and set the initial=20
extent via the URL key like "...map.phtml?me=3Dxmin,ymin,xmax,ymax"

I alredy tried out to change sliderMin and sliderMax in config.ini, but s=

if I get my map and press the "- button" (zoomout) the map always go to t=

What can I do to reach that?

[pmapper-users] Oracle attribute query

Hi,

As a part of my new project, I need to support one-to-many queries. I have a
layer with objects/buildings and each object/building can have one or more
locations inside. I have to implement a query mechanism that can give me the
attributes of each location inside a building when I click on that building.
All the attributes are held in Oracle 9i database. How complex would it be
to support this functionality if I am planning to use the newest pmapper
2.1.2 version? I would just like to know the facts before I start working so
any suggestion is welcome...

The point is that we have customized some nested legends (and a changable=20
Query-result) in 1.9.x.

I need to figure our how much effort it would be to update the legend stuff=

Thanks for your answers. Beside that my client should also get digitizing=20
capabilities in the future, so the best bet would be to update to 2.x indee=
d.

btw. are there any efforts out there which deal with digitizing above=20
point-level (e.g. lines, polygones)?

what I try in reality already exists, but I do not succeed to understand
like recalling that function.
how I can reconstruct the functionality searches from code? "SELECT *
FEATURE WHERE ATTRIBUTE = 123 OR ATTRIBUTE = 456 ecc.:"
I have constructed to an Array of relative values key you to fature, (new
mode "aquery") and would want to visualize them on the map just like ago the
function searches.

I don't understand what you exactly want to do. The updateMap function 
is just the container for various kind of map creations. You can also 
specify a URL with "&zoomextent=" and specify the coordinates in map 
coordinates (in contrast to pixel coordinates) but still with Xmin/max 
and Ymin/max.

The function will not work in older versions than 2.x since it requires 
the new query return format JSON. This was introduced in 2.x.

The old query result was hard-coded in HTML and is one of the oldest 
code parts remained in p.mapper. It was not very flexible and has 
therefore been modified in 2.x.

A backport for 1.9.x would be quite some work and not really 
recommended. I know that the whole query part is not very easy to 
understand (not even for me...). The query was quite simple until more 
functions like joins, hyperlinks, xy Layers, group support, etc. have 
been added.

One of the future plans (already pending since more than a year, 
though...) is to better structure the query functionality.

So I would suggest to move to newer versions 2.1 if you have not 
invested too much efforts in customizing the 1.9.x that was always 
described as beta.

this setting has been changed in p.mapper 2.1.0 compared to 2.0.0. The 
files should now always be named js_config.php and php_config.php and 
you specify the directory for them with 'pm_config_location'

so eg. you can create a dir 'clc', out the 2 files into it with the 
required name and set

This is currently mainly a modification of the DIV placement and the CSS. A slight modification to zslider.js was just necessary for the inverted movement when having the slider vertical.

I will put the whole thing in the next release as the default setting. So if it's not a problem waiting a bit then you'll get it together with some other small modifications. If I will have the time I will have a look at it until next week...

Originally I wanted to wait until some major restructuring of the layout is complete but that is still a bit more to do and will go into the release after the next.

I
the function "updateMap(url, response)" writhen in "xlmhttp.js" has the
purpose of reloading and updating the map.
the  updating is based upon 2 coordinates: "min and max x" and "min and max
y" and also it's based upon the layer.
Is it possible to update the map with an array of coordinates ?
the objective is to put in evidence different elements not close to each
other.

a div on the mapframe but when we install the V2.1.2, the slider bar =
appear on the top toolbar. Could you tell me if I have to re-developp =
this functionnality or if there is an option that I didn't see.
