Currently, joystick emulation can only use the numeric keypad. It may be possible, though, that later versions will support input devices like gamepads.

The next version, which I plan to release next week, will include support for joysticks and gamepads, as well as redefining the keyboard layout (including the Plus/4 joysticks). Perhaps I should allow assigning external game device controls just like normal keys (e.g. you could move the cursor with the gamepad if you wanted to, but also use it with games that were originally made for keyboard only).
