PluggedOut needs a function that will let us display Most-Recent Comments and Most-Commented Entries.

This will enhance the blogger's ability to keep discussion active on older but still valuable entries.

It's very important, though, that these functions include only approved comments. Otherwise, spam comments (and PluggedOut still has no ability to filter out spam comments) will be reflected in the results.

I think we discussed this in the support forums: see
    http://pluggedout.sourceforge.net/development/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1539
There are still some improvements that can be made to that plugin, however.

Do you have a plugin for these items, dd? (I checked the plugins folder, but it appears to be empty).

I'm currently using the lucas's plugins for Recent Comments and Most Commented. They're good, but a bit limited in the information provided.

With Recent Comments, I'd like to be able to show the name of the visitor who made the comment, time and date of the comment, and however many characters of the comment that fits my layout. Currently, we have the character count option, but not the first two items.

We've discussed this in the forum, and it seems like this might actually require a template. Am I correct?
