Recently I have been using PLplot fairly extensively to illustrate changes
between various versions of FreeEOS, my code for calculating the equation of
state (pressure as a function of density and temperature) for stellar
conditions. See http://freeeos.sourceforge.net/1.2.0-1.1.0.png and
http://freeeos.sourceforge.net/1.3.0-1.2.0.png for two recent results that
illustrate not only FreeEOS residuals but also use of the new font
infrastructure for PLplot for the 3D case.
Thanks to everybody here that helped make such good-looking png plots
possible as a matter of routine with PLplot. I especially single out Andrew
Roach for thanks because he has contributed so much to unicode fonts for
PLplot with his initial and continuing efforts on the gd.c device driver and
