Since the last changes concerning DATA_DIR, the Tcl demos are not working
from CVS sources with the default configure settings. I think I know the
reason. The installation directory for the *.tcl files is defined in
tcldir = $(DATA_DIR)/tcl
However, the PLplot scripts somehow believe that they are installed in
TCL_DIR. Now, TCL_DIR is defined currently in configure.ac as:
Shouldn't we have the following definitions, for the sake of coherence and
tcldir = $(TCL_DIR)
Should I go ahead with the changes?
All this business about improving the *_DIR stuff is showing to me how
fragile our current configuration system is. I do not know which
expression is more appropriate to describe the current state: "patchwork"
or "can of worms". Maybe both. Sometimes I have the impression that I
should restart everything from scratch, using the right principles. Of
course, I refrain myself since I am not that insane... :-P
