New versions of Autoconf (2.58) and Automake (1.7.9) have been recently
released and I am planning to generate a new CVS distribution tarball in the
near future (I have no precise schedule yet).
I am also planning to "modernize" the configure.ac and sysloc.in scripts as
well as the Makefile.am files by replacing old, deprecated constructs by the
recommended ones. If I really do this, it means that developers working
directly from CVS will need the latest version of the autotools installed in
Does anyone object to this?
[ Security note: the CVS distribution tarballs are generated on a Debian
system in a chroot sid (unstable). All the packages installed in this
system are expected to be safe and were downloaded before the compromising
of the Debian servers that happened yesterday. At any rate, the Debian
archives do not seem to have been compromised. ]
