The vanilla ".so" variety is typically a part of a "development" set of tools,
since a binary package release version is typically linked against a specific
.so to avoid compatibility issues. I take it that the package listed by
$ dpkg -S /usr/lib/libitk3.2.so
is the development set of tools. So just get that, and you should be good to
