I was building the latest plplot and trying to configure according to taste,
when I found that site-specific configs are now supported in an official way.
My perusal of the configure script reveals that the following places are
checked, in order:
So to reproduce the previous plplot config file behavior, do:
$ CONFIG_SITE=~/config/cf_plplot.in ./configure
The latter is the *only* way currently to set prefix via a config file. In
this case, set ac_default_prefix appropriately ("pl_prefix" was previously
used for this purpose). To play nice with both ways, in config file set e.g.
# local dev area
and so on.
It seems to work just fine with the old stuff chopped out and using the new
way instead, so I'll be committing the fix shortly.
