Thanks, this is the final confirmation I was waiting for.  This means that
my changes in the Octave arena have no undesirable side effects.

However, I still do not understand the problem with DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH.  In a
previous post you wrote:

Does this mean that when the libs are installed, configure
--enable-dyndrivers works without setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH?
