Dear sir:
when i installed plplot5.8.0 to my RedHat linux2.6.9.5,i performed the first step ./configure >&configure.out,
"hecking for freetype library header files... found in /usr/include/freetype2
checking for main in -lfreetype... yes
configure:
WARNING: "freetype fonts not found - please check fonts. Freetype font support is disabled."
but acutally ,the fonts file is really at the searching path ,why cannot find it?
anohter problem is if this is the root cause that the cairo driver is not available after the plplot installation?
any help will be appreciated.
Best Regards!

    Hi,

you need the "Free UCS Outline Fonts" installed, which can be found here: Free UCS Outline Fonts. It's correct, that if these fonts are not found, the cairo driver will not work. Alternatively you could also set the PL_FREETYPE_MONO, PL_FREETYPE_MONO_BOLD, etc. environment variables to existing fonts (look in plplot source dir/cmake/modules/freetype.cmake).

Apart from that please consider that the automake build system is deprecated and that you should use the new and support cmake build system.

    Best Regards,
    Werner

I close this bug, since there was no response from the submitter and there are no issues with the freefont known so far.
