Well, you could always download the Cygwin package - configure works just
fine under that - and if mingw32 is your default C++ compiler, I guess it'll
find it and Do The Right Thing.
We can't send the Makefile's as a part of the distribution because that would
screw up the autoconfiguration stuff for every other C++ system.

Get Cygwin - it seems to work just fine.
