[Plib-users] ssgInit called w/o OpenGL context

I'm running RH7.0 with the latest plib (1.4.2) & examples.  Everything
compiles fine, but running any OpenGL program returns

FATAL:  ssgInit called without a valid OpenGL context.

I browsed in the archives to no avail.  Has anyone seen this before?

It's usually symptomatic of an incorrectly written application that tries
to initialise PLIB without a valid graphics window open.

However, if you see well-established programs doing this (The PLIB examples
for instance) then it's most likely to be a botched OpenGL install of
some kind.

Since RedHat Linux has been causing *ENDLESS* problems for me since version
7.0 was first released, I'm betting on a bad OpenGL install.

Have you managed to run any *non-PLIB* OpenGL programs?

I had this problem too with RH7.0 but i actually found a few messages in the archives dealing with this 
and as I was about to upgrade to RH7.1 anyway thats what I did.
Works fine now ...

The problem is not a general OpenGL problem though as all other OpenGL programs worked fine.
Its a Plib/Rh7.0 specific problem

Probably just a problem with the included Mesa.  I didn't have problems,
but I always compile my own Mesa to get the 3dfx support.

fyi, my voodoo3 worked accelerated out of the box on rh7.1 ... had to install the preview tdfx.rpms for 7.0

That's different - you are getting support via the XFree86 4.x/Mesa tie.
It doesn't work that way with the Voodoo2, because there is no 2D support
for that card.  :)
