If the 2.96/7 compilers are correctly translating the same source code into valid assembler, it's hard to see how only RedHat 7.0, 7.1 and Mandrake 8 would exhibit the problem. Is it just a coincidence that the main thing these have in common that no other distro has is that compiler revision?
