If we just want the polys of the object, I think the MDL loader might already be fit for the task - it shouldn't be much more work than making the loader get the correct parts of the file. (The file structure is the only real difference between MDL/BGL AFAIK, both files contain BGL commands). All the documents should be on the internet - BGL is much better documented than MDL. That's what it looks like in MSFS 2000 too :-) Flying down Grand Canyon proved to be *really* spectacular in MSFS 2000, since there were flying lakes, rivers and more...
