Probably the problem that Michael has is one I had also and that is
documented in the todo list. Since I get this with more or less all
loaders/writers, I don't think its the .AC loader/writer.
Also note that counting the number of polys returns zero, so its not
that surprising that the AC writer writes out an empty file.
