Alas, I am not dead; I was merely sleeping.

Attached is a draft specification for the input abstraction library,
incorporating comments from Steve and others on this list and the
FlightGear one. I hope I have explained the ideas sufficently clearly;
if not then I will be happy to elaborate (it is only a draft after all)

The API is actually very small now, since much of the work is done by
the configuration file, which is described in the spec.  There are a
variety of comments (in red) in the spec where I would appreciate some
guidance, and in general any suggestions will be gladly accepted.

The spec is unimplemented right now but if people generally approve I
could produce an impl over the weekend (although I do start at work on
Monday...). The GUI will obviously take a little longer but is a lower
priority.
