And I've got only my 6.3 and have to 'post-install' XFree4.0 - as a Linux newbi bwahah > The most recent rumor I heard is that nvidia is not planning on using > the XFree 4.0 / DRI infrastructure for their drivers ... they plan to > forge their own path and do something else which no one is quite sure > what, how, when, or why. This is the rumor I heard. I'm not reading the 'unofficial' sites with the rumors, but the official nVidia Linux driver site (http://www.nvidia.com/Products.nsf/htmlmedia/software_drivers.html) says: ... The upcoming XFree86 X server 4.0 will use the Direct Rendering Infrastructure required to take full advantage of the RIVA processors. ... This tells me that they'll use DRI. (Currently they aren't. But their current drivers crash with even the most simplistic OpenGl applications very badly) CU, Christian |
