To my defense: I have, of course, tested the previous patch,
and it worked for hours ... then I suddenly got a SIGFPE.
Take the attached version -- it also fixes some bad indentation
and removes trailing spaces.

"Allow slider fractions of 1.0 -- don't force them to 0.9."
