Good, so we understand what happens. All other compilers are correct
in allowing that code.=20

Ok, it should be easy to rewrite the code to avoid the construct the
Mac compiler has problems with. Unfortunately, I am down to about 5-10
spare hours per week, so it might take me a few days.
