Active development has started in a new git repository on sourceforge. Please check it out for a preview of the upcoming 3.0 release.

The 3.0 release will include a software synth as well as alsa (linux) and coremidi (osx) support for external midi device output.

The software synth can play in time with the external midi output for sound reinforcement. A youtube video should be added to the project soon to demonstrate this.

The latest release (several years old, actually)
has now been imported into Source Forge.
