For 2.1 you are probably better off keeping the driver as a plugin, new drivers for the svn version should go into trunk. However if do wish to modify player to include the driver you will need to modify: acinclude.m4 configure.ac driverregistry and the relevant Makefiles etc in the drivers tree. In svn trunk a new driver requires only additions to the folder it is placed in. Have a look at the plugin driver in the examples folder. This includes example makefiles (makefile.example) for building a driver outside the player source tree. Thanks. Then when I will finish my driver, have I put my directory driver in /player-2.x.x/server/drivers/mixed then configure and make install? I think I'm going tu use player 2.0.5 because i have problems with player-2.1.x ( http://www.nabble.com/compile-with-player-2.1.X-td22666589.html ) does it matter? Both 2.0 and 2.1 support plugin drivers. You dont need to put them in the player tree to build them, you can place them anywhere in your file system.
