As you have compiled Ogre yourself, I'd ask you to compile and execute any random demo of the ogrenew/Samples directory.
I want to know if it is a general Ogre problem or a specific Gazebo problem.

Hi all,

I just installed gazebo 0.8 from svn from scratch on Gutsy Gibbon;
gazebo seems to compile, but when it runs, only the FLTK elements show
up on the screen (the world appears black; see attached screenshot).
However, I can capture frames from the simulation and the images aren't
completely black (see attached jpg).

I've tried running both revision 180 and revision 201 with the same
problem, which makes me think I've misconfigured something on my end.  I
compared the Ogre.log file with the one on a different machine (gazebo
works fine on that machine) and I can't tell that there are any
significant differences in terms of error messages.

Any help troubleshooting would be much appreciated!

OS: Ubuntu gutsy
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForceFX 5200 (on the list of supported cards for
the latest nvidia driver)
Driver: nvidia-glx-new (100.14.19)
glxgears works fine.
Dependencies which I compiled myself (not ubuntu packages):
CEGUI 0.5.0b
player (latest stable from CVS)
ogre 1-4-5

Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide
that would be of help.
