In your world file you need to create an extra set of object that you leave just outside the active region of your stage map. These will effectively not exist as far as your robots are concerned.

In a client application you will need to subscribe to the simulation interface, and use the set_pose method of the simulation proxy to move the object (or move it by hand in the stage gui)

Hi Toby,
I don't get your idea. How to have a few obstacles off map? And how to move
them with the simulation interface? I'm new to Player/Stage, could you
explain it in detail?
Thank you very much,
kevin
