Platemail is a flexible, extensible cross-platform email client. After a lengthy hiatus, development has begun in earnest once more.

Platemail aims to overcome some of the limitations of other email clients by providing a more configurable structure, supporting customisation in almost every way: user interface, message storage, filtering, security/privacy, protocol support, and others.

Although the Platemail project is yet to deliver its first release, substantial progress towards an alpha version has now been made, and a release should be available within a few months.
