I am waiting for the first version of the level editor from Artu, then we will also be ready for level developing. Beside this, we have to decide a storyboard, from which we will decide the graphic style. Or styles... because i was thinking to a game with each level in a different environment. for example an asteroid field, the sea on a planet, a farm (!), futuristic cities, the moon, i dont know. Our starship could be (maybe not a starship but a star...cow or a flying object, or a flying man...) moving in different environments to find something or to rescue someone. I could be a story in which you have to save world or in which you have to save your dog from the dog-catcher... I want it to be a innovative storyboard if possible! Wensday i posted on the site the latest beta of plat, with major inprovements in game engine: i try to explain. On the old code the movements of enemies where bound to "paths" and those paths where described by a sequence of points. The game engine had to map those points on the screen (virtually) and make the enemy move on those points. The new code still bounds movements to "paths" but now those paths are quite more complex. They are made of sequence of piece-lines described by couple of points. This allow to have also events (like firing, increase or decrease speed or anything else) tihs also make more simple to draw paths and to modify them ( i wrote a small editor) also movements of enemies on the screen are really more and more precise! The bad point is that the game engine have to interpolate the piece of line bethween two points at run time so it could be a bit slower. No speed change on my AMD-K6-3-400. Also on the other hand the editor must be more complex! There is also another person who asked to join the project to work on graphics and storyboard, and another one who asked about what kind of compression would plat need. Plat needs compression to save disk space for graphics.
