Jan 03, 2020 A new ISO - Artix w/ Plasma desktop customized for Acer 14 CB3-431 Chromebook

  • alsa-lib-1.1.9-2 downgraded due to broken Braswell audio in version 1.2.1.2-2
  • Display is 120 DPI
  • Elan touchpad tapping enabled
  • Chromebook keyboard layout with Search overlay enabled. This means F keys work like usual and special Chromebook keys are enable by the 'Search' key.

Jan 08 - 2019 - We have an image. It's beta becasue of a minor annoyance:

  • On boot, modem manager might spam about device support.
  • Couldn't check support for device '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.2/0000:02:00.0' not supported by any plugin

If the boot seems to hang, pressing some random keys makes it quiet and the boot continues. Let's see if it appears on other devices as well.
This is NOT an issue after installation. The message is still there but boot continues regardless. Modem manager is a dependency of Plasma network manager.

  • At present, there is no Plasmatix repository. That needs additional work and we only needed 2 packages anyway. Those are included directly within the ISO image.

  • Anyone wishing to try this should not risk any data loss - make your backups before bootiing or installing.

Supported Chromebook models:
Acer 14 CB3-431

It's likely that other models work fine but there are specific fixes needed for some of those. Any Braswell device should have audio support. All devices should have keyboard support.
