A unstable Zipped Build of PlanetaMessenger.org 0.3 Universal Messenger was released. This version was compiled and zipped with the latest CVS source code and is only a preview of current development work.

Improvements in this version (until this date):

• Peter Maloney developed the Jabber Plugin allowing connections with Jabber networks (for this version, only login to Jabber.org servers is available)
• Redesigned "My Messenger" Setup window, allowing complete messenger configuration, and will support future specific plugins configurations (under development).
• PlanetaMessenger.org code base was upgraded to JDK 1.5 source level.
• AIM plugin and ICQ/AIM JOscarLib plugin is working again and implements new features. Now both plugins can retrieve complete contact list from server.
• Improvements to MSN and Yahoo! plugins.
• Looks look-and-feel was updated improving PlanetaMessenger.org visual when user select this look-and-feel.

After 1 year, the new version of Java Universal Instant Messenger, PlanetaMessenger.org, was released.

The main features of latest version are:

• Improvements to user interface;
• Added contact details management;
• Added language support (loading language file from a jar file), with English(US) and Portuguese (BR) ready to use;

Notice for PlanetaMessenger.org's AIM users. A new AIM/ICQ plugin was released because AOL seems to be switching the old AIM TOC based protocol to new TOC2 protocol, and unfortunately the JaimLib (AIM TOC based library used by PlanetaMessenger.org) doesn't work anymore (until JaimLib team fix this).
But PlanetaMessenger.org team has in CVS a unstable version of ICQ/AIM plugin that uses the good JOscarLib library that works for both, AIM and ICQ networks, then the AIM users can connect using this plugin.... read more

LINUX/UNIX application launcher bug fix. The PlanetaMessenger.org launcher for LINUX/UNIX was fixed.
Now PlanetaMessenger can start correctly on LINUX and other UNIXes.
To PlanetaMessenger.org work again, only change the planetamessenger.sh (in planetamessenger.org home

PlanetaMessenger.org 0.2 beta 3 was released. With this release PlanetaMessenger is more stable, with a clean user interface and with the main improvements listed below:

• Added privacy support to all plugins that supports this feature (like, MSN, AIM and Yahoo. ICQ not yet because DJcq2k library doesn't support privacy control yet);
• Added look and feel support. Now PlanetaMessenger.org can manage multiples look and feels, installed into user Java Virtual Machine or packaged into a external jar file;
• PlanetaMessenger.org has now Installers for Windows (windows native - NullSoft NSIS) and Java (platform independent - IzPAck java installer);

4 days after Yahoo blocking third-party messengers, PlanetaMessenger.org Pentarou 0.2 Beta 2 is working again.

The Jymsg team (the developers of PlanetaMessenger Yahoo library) made a patch to its library and now PlanetaMessenger.org Pentarou 0.2 beta 2 is working so fine again.

The development of PlanetaMessenger.org 0.2 - Beta 3 already started (may 2004).
All bugs of current release (0.2 Beta 2), will be fixed and a lot of new features and improvements will be added.

Hi PlanetaMessenger.org's friends. The Pentarou 0.2 Beta 2 binaries and sources released sunday may 09/2004 was damaged.

PlanetaMessenger.org 0.2 beta 2 was released. With this release PlanetaMessenger now is very stable and fast. A lot of improvements was done.

The main advances are listed below:

• Each plugin run in it's own thread. This feature avoid low performance in network slow operations;
• All windows was remodeled and a lot of improvements to user interface was done;
• "Accounts" Tab improved;
• Multi-Tab support to message dialog added. Now PlanetaMessenger.org can maintain multiples conversation Tabs in a single conversation window;

The Yahoo plugin is working again. The Ymsg library (used by PlanetaMessenger.org Yahoo plugin) was updated and now PlanetaMessenger.org is releasing a patch to keep our messenger working with Yahoo network.

The development of PlanetaMessenger.org 0.2 - Beta 2 will be started in January 2004.
All bugs of current release (0.2 Beta 1), will be fixed and a lot of new features and improvements will be added.

Now JMML is the base for development of new features on IM system, because ComVC (current base of IM features development) is dead (this network don't work anymore).
All improvement in JMML will be reflected in PM future releases.... read more

The PlanetaMessenger.org MSN plugin is working again.

To update the PlanetaMessenger MSN plugin you must download, at PlanetaMessenger SourceForge site (MSN Update, http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=40468&release_id=199454), the patch to fix the plugin (msn_plugin_update_23_nov_2003.tar.gz or msn_plugin_update_23_nov_2003.zip).

Unpack the downloaded file to PlanetaMessenger instalation directory and enjoy with MSN again.... read more

The MSN plugin is broken, because Microsoft is updating (cleaning some packages of MSN protocol) and PlanetaMessenger.org's MSN Plugin uses some functions that was disabled in last week.

The MSN library used by PlanetaMessenger.org is already updated and MSN plugin already works, but this release is in CVS yet and a patch will be released in next weekend, correcting this problem.

Hello world !!! PlanetaMessenger 0.2 Pentarou edition now can communicate with Yahoo Messenger. This feature was possible because a Yahoo plugin was built using the excellent jymsg9 java based Library made by S.E.Morris (FISH), also know by javakiddy at Sourceforge.net.

PlanetaMessenger.org 0.2 isn't ready for download and is only available in CVS.... read more

After six months using the DJcq2k (Jcq2k based library) PlanetaMessenger.org will support a new ICQ Plugin, made using the new (and better) JOscarLib Library, maintained by Fabrice Michellonet.
JOscarLib is a clear and really well implemented ICQ/AIM (OSCAR based) library and because of intensive support from author the new PlanetaMessenger.org ICQ Plugin will be added in the messenger as the Official ICQ plugin.
The last ICQ plugin (DJcq2k based) will be in the next release too, but support will be discontinued in future and only JOscarLib based keep updated.
The JOscarLib plugin based isn't in CVS yet, but will be soon.

The ComVC network, owned by a famous brazilian ISP, is online again, after 3 weeks of innactivity.
PlanetaMessenger.org releases 0.0, 0.1, 0.2 now can connect again using the ComVC plugin.

The last CVS ComVC release has 90% of implementation ready (100% for messages and status and missing only the file transfer implementation).

The ComVC service, owned by a brazilian ISP, is temporarily out of service.
The original ComVC messenger cannot connect into the ComVC network and keep freeze.
The PlanetaMessenger.org ComVC plugin cannot connect on startup and causes a delay to start the messenger, but the PlanetaMessenger.org users can disable the ComVC Plugin to connect on startup.
The user can enter in "My Messenger" option and choose the ComVC plugin. Open all options, double clicking in the option "ComVC Plugin" and choose the "Properties" menu option. Click in "Ok" button and disable the check box "Auto-connect on startup" in the next window. Ready and working so fine again.
When the service back again (if will happen), I'll keep you informed.

The next PlanetaMessenger.org release (0.2) will change the ICQ library. The old Jcq2k will changed to new DJcq2k.
The major changes in this library (for while) is the project owner. JCq2k is maintained by another group and the Jcq2k development not is parallel with PlanetaMessenger.org.
The solution was, get the last release of Jcq2k, add our improvements and release a new project (called DJcq2k), now owned by PlanetaMessenger.org and seeking our development strategy.
"Im working in the DJcq2k first release to put in CVS, in SourceForge.net. The new project home still in development, too, but the PlanetaMessenger.org release 0.2 (in CVS), is already running with this library.", said the PlanetaMessenger.org project manager, popolonY2k.

The PlanetaMessenger.org 0.2 (in development on CVS) now can talk to AIM clients.
The new AIM Plugin is in development and now can register a existing user, send and receive messages and know the buddies status.
The library used to talk to AIM is the good JAIMLib (TOC based) and work so fine.

The PlanetaMessenger.org - Pentarou 0.2 now is in CVS. This release has a lot of improvements:
The Messenger store the size, position and windows status for future sessions.
MSN works better (added the new JMML library)
The Plugin Engine now can load graphic resources and can use another jar as library (no limit to jar libraries)
In Windows and KDE (3.0) the messenger can be minimized to System Tray (SysTray4J project).
So many adjusts and fixes will be done.

After six months of silence, PlanetaMessenger.org releases the new java Instant Messenger, PlanetaMessenger.org - Pentarou 0.1.
Now, PlanetaMessenger.org can connect with ICQ, using a Jcq2k plugin based, MSN and ComVC (since Pentarou 0.0).
The most important improvement was the new Plugin engine in this release.

The first release of PlanetaMessenger finally is out. After six months of hard work to migrate an older version (C++/Win32) of PlanetaMessenger to a new plataform independent version (Java).

This release is PlanetaMessenger Pentaro 0.0 and acctually runs under Plugin ComVc (this plugin was made by me and that implements a communication to the messenger of a famous brazilian ISP). I have plans to put the Jcq2k plugin release in the next release of PlanetaMessenger.... read more
