What do you think about a mechanism of other image formats support for texmake? like how we can make our own custom display outputs.
I was thinking about that for a certain time, and I am asking what you think of this idea.
This is a good idea and is easily doable.
We are intentionally trying to minimize external dependencies in the source code. So far the only required external dependency is libtiff. When we start talking about other file formats, this list can get big pretty quickly.
This can be easily achieved by simple bash script like:
for f in $@
convert $f tmp.tiff
texmake tmp.tiff $f.tex
This method allows to reduce the time of making textures, and furthermore you can pass some options specific to your custom image driver.
However I have read that you will go to develop an OpenEXR input for textures, is an additional texture format support or a support into texmake?
Anyways if I can help you to get out of the list, it's with pleasure :)
