It could be that it's missing some of the required libraries, but=20
actually it shouldn't crash in that case, but give a more helpful error=20
message. These libraries are: SDL, SDL_image, SDL_ttf, OpenAL, libogg,=20
libvorbis. I don't link them in statically because the usual Linux=20
distributions have packages for them - but maybe I should. Do you have=20
those? And what versions of them?
Can you run it in GDB to see where it crashes? (I don't remember whether =
the release binary is stripped, though, so that may not be too helpful.)
Can you try compiling from source?
