Yes, do use application/octet-stream. I don't think there's any 
advantage in inventing our own x-pipmak type.

(I actually simplified things a bit in my reply to Liam. I'm pretty sure 
Safari doesn't look into files, but uses the Content-type to determine 
what extraneous extension to add.)
