I used the MVS TSO ISPF editor dailly from 1984-1998. I remember using logical commands like X ALL to exclude all lines, then F 'xxx' ALL to bring back all the lines that had the pattern xxx in them and then finally DEL X ALL to delete the lines that were still excluded. I also remember the ability to delete only the data in certain columns of a file. Did you implement these functions?
Also, and I apologize for asking such a basic question, how would I install and run your pipEdit in Ubuntu 19.10?

Not all of them right now, just a few, but this stuff is on the to-do list.
Just compile it using the shell script "c" and copy it to some location in your $PATH like /usr/local/bin
(yes, i know, there should be a better support for compiling and installing, but i don't have that right now. To-do list....)
