Ooops! I forgot to write down te mutation step, that's true. It will be done after step 6.
I also think the extra argument approach is the best one.

I'm missing the "random mutation" step, which is normally required for
proper evolution.  Otherwise you only get degradation of the starting
pool, and nothing new ever evolves (apart from combinations of existing
things; I'd still expect a decent result, but not as good).

It would be possible to add an extra argument to pioneersai for this
purpose, or perhaps better, to add it to the algorithm argument:
--algorithm=genetic:/path/to/file.txt
 
Another option would be to use an environment variable which contains
the filename (or the chromosome itself, if it's not too long).

That doesn't sound very flexible; passing every invocation its own
chromosome sounds much better.
