Land Ho uses three new pieces.
-
Port city
- Costs 2 ore, 2 grain, and a settlement (it is an upgrade like city).
- Allows building other Land Ho pieces.
- Has a basin that other pieces can be in.
- Does not double income.
- 2 victory points
-
Boat
- Cost 1 wood, 1 sheep.
- Can only be made on an edge next to a port city.
- Can move across 4 sea edges each turn.
- All boats can move every turn.
- Can be on an edge with another piece.
- Can carry one of the following
- settler
- 1 or 2 sailors (different scenario)
- fish (different scenario)
-
Settlers
- Costs 1 wood, 1 sheep, 1 grain, and 1 brick.
- Can only be made in a port city.
- Can be moved by boat.
- Can upgrade to settlement.
- Consumes both boat and settlers
- No resource cost.
-
Sailor
- Not used in this scenario, but list to be more complete.
- Costs a ore and a sheep.
- Can be on a hex, on port city, or boat.
- Provides some benefit when on certain hexes.
Now for discussion.
- Costs of the pieces are almost exactly the same as other peices used.
- boats = ships
- settler = settlement
- sailor = knight (not implemented yet)
- port city ~= city
-
Boats are more powerful to use then ships.
-
Do we need to have the same costs as the board game?
- I say no. We have the bridge. could be compared to the bridge in the great river scenario in traders and barbarians, but the cost is different.
- pioneers: 1 wood, 1 sheep, 1 brick
- The great river: 1 wood, 2 brick.
-
I propose the costs should be altered.
- boat: sheep, 2 wood, grain
- port city: 2 sheep, 2 ore.
- settler: 2 brick, grain, sheep.
- sailor: ore and grain
Pioneers is a game that has many similarities to the famous Settlers of Catan board game, but it is a product for itself. That means that we (the developers) are free to create/implement features that differ from the board game. Even better, because that makes it clear that Pioneers is not a blind copy but a separate game.
